Mostafa Aakhte is a Postdoctoral researcher at the University of Göttingen in Germany, working in the Huisken Lab since 2022. His research focuses on light sheet fluorescence microscopy (LSFM), particularly developing high-resolution imaging systems for cleared and live tissues. His interests include beam shaping, adaptive optics, and large-volume 3D imaging.

He received his PhD in bio-optics from the University of Kassel in 2021, where he developed digital light sheet systems with beam-shaping capabilities to enhance resolution and imaging quality. He earned his Master’s in Photonics from the Institute for Advanced Studies in Basic Sciences (IASBS) in Iran in 2016, focusing on structured light and digital holography.

Mostafa has authored several peer-reviewed publications and holds a German patent on a novel light sheet microscope design. His work spans structured illumination, isotropic imaging, adaptive optics, and smart microscopy, with applications in developmental biology, neuroscience, and cleared tissue imaging.

He also contributes to open-source microscopy software and enjoys interdisciplinary projects at the optics, biology, and engineering interfaces. He is passionate about building flexible and accessible imaging platforms that support biomedical discovery.
